This exhibition is the first monograph devoted to Claude Monet (1840-1926) and held in France since the major retrospective in the 1980. It offers a chance to journey through the major stages in the work of his key figure in the impressionist movement. Inspired in his early days by the realism of the 1860s, his work embodied the purest expression of Impressionism to become one of the foundations of modern art at the turn of the 20th century. With close tp 200 paintings, this echibition gathers some exceptional loaned pieces.
