Fashion Week in Paris

When one thinks of "fashion," Paris is always the city that springs to mind first. After all, Paris really was the birthplace of "high fashion," ("haute couture" – even the term is French), which means custom-made clothing by some of the world's most skilled couturiers (clothes makers).

To wear custom garments created by these artists has always been a fashion statement (for those who could afford them). Lately, of course, fashion has shifted more in the direction of the accessible, such as "Ready to Wear."

Of course, all this fashion means ever-new garments (in fact, change may be considered synonymous with fashion). Which means shows to showcase the new designs. All of which adds up to Fashion Week!

Twice per year, Fashion Week rolls into to Paris, as part of fashion weeks held worldwide, from Milan to London to New York City.

Fashion Week, as you may have guessed, is where some of Paris' most exciting designers showcase their wares. The designers (or "houses") look forward to the event as an opportunity to make a splash with their new seasonal collections. As a result, the first of these Fashion Weeks is held in January (for Fall and Winter) and then again in September-October (for Spring and Summer).

Types of fashion that are shown during the event span Ready To Wear (Prêt-à-Porter), Haute Couture (High Fashion) special shows for Men's Fashion, and more.

The week effectively makes a statement about upcoming trends and what's no longer in fashion, in the eyes of the great houses and couturiers. The events necessarily showcase designs well before the actual season, so buyers and press can preview what's coming, retailers can start creating orders, and more.

Generally speaking, Fashion Week globally covers the "big four" markets, starting in New York, then moving to London, Milan and finally Paris. Some would say Paris has eclipsed all other markets when it comes to the "theatre of fashion," with some of the boldest and most innovative shows.

More recently, the challenge has been how to incorporate fashionable looks with eco-conscious materials and processes, especially given the global economic downturn. To combine new looks with responsible materials that appeal to people who are not necessarily in the mood to spend, is a challenge the couturiers of Paris are already taking up with gusto.

For those who love the exciting and new, an apartment near some of Paris' fashionable areas such as Avenue Montaigne or the Champs Elysées may be just the way to experience this twice-a-year event. (Although almost any part of central Paris will do!)

Your http://www.MyKeysToParis.com representative will be pleased to recommend a flat in Paris that takes you near the fun and excitement!

There are many wondering apartments that allow you see all that Fashion Week has to offer in Paris (not to mention the many other wonderful things to enjoy, such as the food and fun that are a hallmark of Paris year-round!), in ways that are superior to hotel-living in every way.

After all, combining good value with world-class amenities is a "concept" that never goes out of style!
