For the first time in Europe, the Institut du Monde Arabe is hosting Nasser D. Khalili's fabulous collection of Islamic art, which shows the artistic refinement of the cultures of Islam. The selection of 471 remarkable pieces includes manuscripts, wall coverings and rugs, ceramics and glass pieces, woodworks, hard stone objects and silverware, jewellery and pieces of lacquerware. The exhibition invites the visitor to journey through three themes : the relationship between art and the sacred, the development of court arts, and creation focused on the satisfaction of the senses", as a foretaste of paradise.
