THE HUNGER OF DINOSAURS

PALAIS DE LA DECOUVERTE - FROM 10th DECEMBER 2009 TO 2nd MAY 2010

What did dinosaurs eat? The Palais de la découverte continues to combine science and fun, with a subjet that holds great fascination for adults and children alike. The spectacular decoration and larger-than-life animated models form an educational circuit that explains current  paleontological resaerch and allows us to find out all there is to know about the feeding habits of these giants.

FROM HERMES TO TEXTS... OR THE SAGA OF MESSAGES

MUSEE DE LA POSTE - FROM 19th OCTOBER 2009 TO 6th MARCH 2010

Communication quickly became a priority for man, and the written message in particular has crossed time and civilisations. Yet, its format, from the parchement of Middle Ages to text messages and the internet, without forgetting the reign of paper, has experienced dazzling development. The exhibition traces this development, illustrated by a number of events.

My Keys to PARIS - Testimonial

Our family of 5 spent a week in this Paris 3 bedroom rental, and the photos do not nearly do justice. It’s much more spacious and attractive than it  appears in the photos, both the upstairs beds are doubles. The style is sort of a fresh  “Ikea Plus” which we  prefer,  especially with kids, to the fake Louis XIV so common in Paris,   and  absolutely pefectly maintained and clean. Everthing, including the wifi and three or four English satellite news channels worked well, and it had nearly every appliance we have at home and a well stocked kitchen.

I have worked as a doctor in Paris and  feel like I know Paris pretty well, and  in my opinion the location is ideal. We enjoyed sending the kids out for fresh bread every morning from the renowned Gerard Mulot bakery a block away. Nearby is the Monoprix supermarket  for the necessities and the incredible street markets on rue de Buci  for  fresh daily specialties. The guys at the Nicolas on Buci  really enjoy talking wine and helping you select. There  is; thankfully, a nice market cart provided with the unit. We enjoyed the restaurant  Le Comptoir across the street with  fantastic traditional bistro fare, but it  is so popular with casual but  stylish Parsians it is difficult to get a reservation.

My wife enjoyed the whole interaction with the various  Buci street market vendors getting cooking suggestions  and ideas for preparation, even though she  does not speak French.  Sure we did the whole Rick Steve’s tourist/museum  thing but on top of that we were able to live, at least for a week, as modern Parisians in this charming apartment. This was for me much more educational and fun for my teen age kids than staying in separate anonymous hotel rooms. The business arrangements with “my keys to Paris” and thereafter in correspondence directly with the owner and the owner’s agent were at every moment prompt and professional. We had a signed contract with the owner and all of the owner’s phone and contact details. You never felt as though you were sending your money away to some mysterious third party. No problems at all with the business transactions.  We  would certainly stay here again!

ISADORA DUNCAN (1877 - 1927)

A LIVING SCULPTURE - MUSEE BOURDELLE - FROM 20th NOVEMBRE TO 14th MARCH 2010

Isadora Duncan, one of pioneers of modern dance, was also one of Bourdelle's muses. After having met her and seen her dance, she became one of his sources of inspiration during the creation of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. The Musée Bourdelle pays homage to the life and career of this exceptional woman, through paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs.
